Penis Papules – Everything you need to know.

Penis Papules or most commonly known as pearly penile papules, PPP or hirsuties papillaris genitalis, are little white or skin coloured bumps, 1- 3 mm in size, that grows in rows around the corona of the glans of the penis. They can be mistaken for genital warts or herpes, which are sexually transmitted diseases,  but penis papules are harmless, not contagious and do not cause any pain, burning or itching.

Although penis papules are really common and affect 30 – 40 % of men, they can be very embarrassing and depressing as they are not very nice to look at.

They can become a real psychological problem – especially when they are many and very noticeable. Many people found difficult to have self-confidence with sexual partners and the more time goes by, the worse they feel about them.

What causes pearly penile papules is still unknown but it certainly nothing to do with hygiene or sexual activity.

Pearly Penile Papules occurs mostly in men with uncircumsised penis and it is possible that sometimes they will  come up  or go away on their own.

However is highly advised to check with a doctor first, just in case they are not pearly penile papules. If they are, whatever you do just do not try to pinch them with tweezers as you will cause only irritation and infection and you will not get rid of them.

If you do not want to go to the doctor I made a page in this web site with some pearly penile papules pictures and genital warts to give you an idea and show the differences between the two conditions.

Remember, as the doctors say, you do not have to do anything to them as they are normal, but if they very noticeable and become a problem to your self esteem or social life, you can choose to get rid of them permanently.

Very nice and informative article, I had them since I was 13 and only find outwhat they were many years later. I wish we had the Internet back then. I would certainly get rid of them much earlier.

    Cheers
